Education
ECOMS are your education representatives within the Business School. If you have any problems, questions, or feedback regarding any aspect of your education or your degree, please dont hesitate to contact the Education VP. This can include feedback about a particular lecturer or tutor, problems with how an assessment was marked, or even complaints about how the furniture is arranged in the common room.
Teaching and Learning Committee
Once a month, the President and Education Vice-President attend the Teaching and Learning Committee meeting in the Business School. The committee consists of both management and teaching staff, as well as students representative of the student body. The committee deals with all issues related to teaching and learning, such as unit assessment, scaling, and teaching practices, as well as unit scheduling.
Guild Education Council
Representatives from ECOMS also attend the monthly Guild Education Council, which is attended by all of the faculty societies of the university. The purpose of the council is to compare and evaluate educational practices across different faculties. All attending societies compile a short report of the proceedings of the month, in the hope that through collaboration, the standard of education across all faculties can be lifted.
There are some big educational changes coming next year in 2012 with the new courses of study. At all levels across the university, a lot of thought has gone into how best to adapt to this new course structure. If you’re interested in learning more about the new courses, take a look at the website.
